SHAKESPEARE CLASSES

Each month Hudson Shakespeare Company offers opportunities to increase and practice your Shakespeare repertoire in relaxed and comprehensive settings. Whether you just want to get your feet wet, try new challenging pieces, increase you audition repertoire or are just looking for an intensive and fun acting class, our programs are for you. Overseen by our Resident Shakespeare Teaching Artist, Noelle Fair and Artistic Director Jon Ciccarelli, our instructors bring experience, fun and attention to detail in tackling what can be daunting material. Our main drive and differenece in helping you sell the material in both auditions and performance. Will Shakespeare was an actor and made much it easier than you might think for other actors to take on his material, let us help you flesh it out.

Audition Monologue Intensive

August 6th 6-10PM - Goal of the class is to have a working Shakespeare monologue ready for audition usage. Get all the tools to break down text and make it playable and actable for yourself. Studio 5. $75

Classes/Instruction Descriptions

Shakespeare 101, Introductory Classes (open to Adults & Teens) - Everything you always wanted to know about acting Shakespeare but were afraid to ask. This class gets the novice immediately immersed and working in breaking down and selling Shakespeare. Topics covered:

Theater games to loosen up and get familiar with the material.

Instruction and practice in breaking down and selling verse and prose dialogue.

Shakespeare scene study. What are these guys saying? Practicing and dissecting short scenes.

Selling Shakespearean Comedy and Tragedy, learn the difference and how to use it to your advantage.

Programs end - students work to preparing monologues that they can use for auditions and further Shakespeare classes.

4 week program, 3 hours/Week.

Advanced Shakespeare Scene Study (open to Adults & Teens) - Comfortable with Shakespeare monologues and ready to move on more challenging fare? Want to work on Shakespearean roles between gigs or hone a role that you've done? Advanced Shakespeare Scene Study works students through simple two to three person scenes into large crowd scenes fleshing out characters with clues provided in the text and selling the story you are presenting. Students work through a variety of exercises and "test" scenes toward finishing the class with two prepared scenes.

4 week program, 3 hours/Week.

Shakespeare Intensives - Cutting to chase and getting down and dirty with the Bard. This 4 hour intensive class, takes only a few students at a time to increase work time and works you thoroughly with familiar or new monologues. This class combines the best of our Shakespeare breakdown and comprehension techniques and getting inside your piece and most importantly selling it in a unique way.

4 hours/1 day $75

One on One Instruction - Want to work a monologue but don't have the time for a class? Want to get extra time in? Private one on one instruction is available for the most comprehensive assistance in preparing your audition piece, fleshing out a role your're preparing for or exploring that character/play you've always wanted to.
