All Hail Caesar

Kenilworth - William Shakespeare's popular history play, Julius Caesar, will performed by an all-female cast will be the fourth and final installment for 2008 of the Kenilworth Public Library's outdoor theater festival, The Bard on the Boulevard, Aug 14th at 7:30p.m. The performance by members of the Hudson Shakespeare Company, will be held under the stars at the David Brearly H.S. football field, located at 14th Street and the Boulevard. This performance is free and open to all members of the general public. those planning to attend must bring their own lawn chair or other outdoor seating as no other seating is available. In the event of rain or extreme heat and humidity, the performance will be moved indoors tot he Kenilworth Public Library, located at 548 Boulevard.

Julius Caesar, written by William Shakespeare, chronicles the conspiracy and assassination of the Roman dictator, as well as the aftermath of his death. The Hudson Shakespeare Company's twist of offering an interpretation of this play will an all-female cast provides audience members the opportunity to see this old favorite from a new and unique perspective.

This year marks the fifth season that the Kenilworth Library and the Hudson Shakespeare company have collaborated on the Bard on the Boulevard. Founded in 1992, the Hudson Shakespeare Company is based in Jersey City and performs in numerous venues in NJ, NY and Connecticut.

Funding is possible in part by the NJ State Council on the Arts, through a grant administered by the Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs.  Additional funding was provided by Platinum sponsor: Kenilworth Chamber of Commerce, Gold: S. Seltzer Construction, Friends of the Kenilworth Public Library, Silver, Flexi-Van Leasing, Sovereign Bank, Synergy Bank, General sponsor: Kenilworth Diner and Restaurant.
